The Bird is located in the heart of the Shaw Historic District in Washington D.C. It resides on two levels of a multi-story row house. As the name suggests the restaurant serves poultry of every distinction while respecting the animals and sourcing responsibly. The restaurant spaces, indoors and out, incorporate uniquely crafted work by local artists. The rooms are curated each with its own character. The owner’s intent is to truely celebrate the four seasons by providing a variety of spaces both interior and exterior, each with its own character, and response to each season. The space flows around a custom, steel stair that is inspired by the structure of a feather. A sidewalk café and roof terrace seating further enrich the dining experience. There are two bars, one on each floor. The second floor bar serves the interior and also opens to the roof top terrace.  The cuisine is described as follows:

"The intersection of art, food, and drink. We serve poultry of every distinction while respecting the animals and sourcing responsibly. Our unique and global cuisine utilizes every part of the bird. We offer crafted beverages and a unique take on wine varietals. We price fairly for our neighbors and foodies alike, serve up real hospitality, have fun and give back to our community. Our spaces, indoors and out, are uniquely crafted by local artists. We truely celebrate the four seasons; design, menu, drink, and style."   ~Owner, Eatwell DC
